Hard to believe it’s already July! June was filled with lots of fun, and I’m expecting July to be just as memorable!

You may have seen this earlier this week, I scheduled the wrong post/date and had to quickly fix.. ;)

Today I thought I would share a few cards that were published in the June CARDS magazine. Several of the sets used are now retired, but I still love looking back at these cards!

Celebrate!

I found some much needed crafty time while Jake and the kids were at the pool on Sunday. I had a little too much sun the past few days so decided to stay indoors and play. You could definitely say it was a celebration of sorts. :)

It’s been awhile since I’ve been stampy so I started off by working with a couple challenges. I also made this card with someone in mind!

Celebrate

I saw a card recently that was in the back of my mind when creating this card. The sailboat on this card by Melissa Davies was paper pieced and I thought I could achieve the look of a sailboat with the new What’s Your Type stamp set. I can’t wait to play with this set more, I bet you can make so many different shape combinations with this versatile set!  I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the Float theme from CASology to create this card.

Celebrate CloseUp

The base is Coastal Cabana, and the Real Red strip was embossed with the Folder Arrows embossing folder. I stamped the sailboat and then layered a strip of Night of Navy and Silver Glimmer Paper top off the layers, along with a couple staples. The sentiment was embossed in white powder and came from the June Paper Pumpkin kit. A little sailor’s knot in Coastal Cabana thick baker’s twine finished off the card.

Now to get this card in the mail…I really am the worst at mailing cards! ;)

USA Banner & Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day & 4th of July!

I have a quick banner to share today and pictures from the parade we went to this morning.

First the banner, I used the Simply Created Build a Banner kit from Stampin’ Up! and added in the pinwheels from this months Paper Pumpkin kit. It was super easy to assemble using Real Red, Night of Navy and Black ink for the stenciled portions, and the pinwheels were super easy to fold and secure with a brad as they were already pre-cut. The Paper Pumpkin kit also included some cute stamps and paper straws I’ll have to put to good use soon!

Next, there is nothing better than a small town parade to celebrate the 4th and Independence Day!

My Mom made a request this year for me to recreate one of her favorite pictures. :) When the kids were little Jake would crouch down with them in anticipation of the parade starting and watch over them while they ran to get candy. It’s been several years since this photo below was taken (8 years ago!) and although I forgot they order they were in, we still got a new picture this year for my momma.

I love that some things never change like Gwynie and her long ponytail and my boys with their ball caps.

Oh man, I caught that piece of candy and then dropped it!

Brady was thrilled to get totally hosed down! It was so hot today! Check out his expression in the third photo!

Gwynie spent the majority of the parade texting her boyfriend. ;) He was in another parade going on around the same time for All-Stars.

Then both kids grabbed more candy, I think we have enough Salt Water Taffy to last us until Christmas!

We’re off to BBQ with Jake’s parents, check out the annual car show and then catch the fireworks later tonight. So thankful to be able to celebrate today and our freedoms!
