For Real

For Real! I say this all the time so I loved that it was on a sticker in the May Paper Pumpkin kit!

I have one final card with the kit to share today, but I seriously have so much leftover that I could easily create a few more scrapbook pages and several cards. I love it!

For Real

This card is so vibrant, I looove it! The base is a new In Color, Coastal Cabana. I desperately want a tropical vacation after playing with all the new dreamy In Colors! :)

After layering on some of the patterned paper, I stamped some arrows in Coastal Cabana using the Designer Typeset Photopolymer stamp set. Then the stickers from the kit were added, and to finish it off I gave it a brad and pierced the corner in a pattern with my paper piercer.

I think this could be a fun card to thank someone for a great gift! “I love this for real” is a great line to say to someone! :)

Hey There Friend

This week I’m sharing projects created with the May My Paper Pumpkin kit and today the card I created also carries the stamps from the Welcome kit.

Hey There Friend

For this card I started with a white card base, and used the Stampin’ Spritzer with Pool Party reinker to spray the base. The gray splatters, in the new Smoky Slate color, were stamped with the splatter stamp from the welcome kit. I then layered on the patterned paper, added the polaroid frame, and then the flag stickers. The sentiment is from the welcome kit and was stamped inside the frame. Washi tape (Epic Day) and a silver brad finished it off!

Once again I am loving the clean and graphic look with this kit! It’s been fun seeing all of the different things I could make with this kit, and I have one final card tomorrow that showcases this kit.

The Good Life

This week I’m sharing projects created with the May My Paper Pumpkin kit. If you missed out make sure to go back and see what’s already been shared! Today I have another scrapbook page and almost everything is from the kit.

Good Times This was a really quick and easy page to put together! I used several scrap pieces from the kit to layer around the photos, and also stamped the two images that came in the kid (the good life and the arrow with love this). The only things not in the kit were the base, brads and washi tape.

The journaling is about how Jake and the coaches got the cheerleaders to sing to Brady for his birthday as it fell the same night as a duel. Although the pics with his medal were technically on another night, I thought these fit together for a full layout.

And just a few close-ups of the page with all those fun scraps and stickers!

Special Event

I have a softer and more feminine card today made with the May My Paper Pumpkin kit.

I used the sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary to start this card off like the one I shared yesterday.

The inspiration sketch.

Special Event For this card I started with a Pink Pirouette card base and ran it through my Big Shot with the dots embossing folder. Then I used a returning color Blushing Bride, and did the direct-to-paper technique by rubbing the ink pad across the front of the card base. I inked up the edges just a little bit more to give it a more distressed and softer look.

Then I layered the two flag panels (kit dsp), added the stickers from the kit, tied some white bakers twine into a small bow and finished the card off with pearls.

I absolutely loved playing with this CAS sketch! It is definitely a style I tend to gravitate to and I loved how easy the Paper Pumpkin kit was to work with in conjunction with this sketch.

Tomorrow I have another scrapbook page to share that was made with the kit!

Here’s another card made with the May My Paper Pumpkin kit!

I used the sketch challenge from Create with Connie and Mary to start this card off.

This is the sketch given, I love how the panel in the background shows through!

I started off with a new color coming out this year called Smoky Slate for the base. Two of the papers included in the MPP made the flag panels, along with the polaroid and hello sticker that were also in the kit. A little Epic Day washi tape and brad accented the hello sentiment sticker, and for some detail I used the splatter stamp from the MPP Welcome kit in Smoky Slate ink. You’ll get that awesome splatter in your first kit no matter when you sign up!

Stay tuned for one more card using this sketch, and more projects using the Paper Pumpkin kit!

This is us: Scrapbook Layout

Well, now that I have all my projects turned in I can get back to playing with my stuff!

I recently got the May My Paper Pumpkin kit and it was a brag book kit, but I decided to turn it into a couple scrapbook pages and cards which I’ll be sharing all week long!

Today being Sunday, is you guessed it, Scrapbook Sunday!

Scrapbook Sunday

This is us

I recently downloaded the Walgreens app on my phone and use it to print my Instagram pics! I love that they come out as 4x4 squares and are perfect for quick and easy scrapbook pages. I’ll also be using a lot more of them for another project. :)

This is a random page of some different photos of Jake and I. I used tons of the stickers and still have pages upon pages left! They gave us tons of paper and stickers in this kit!

Here are a few different close-ups of this page. It was all done on a white base and splattered with Pool Party re-inker. I am in LOVE with this color!

I’ll be sharing more projects made with this kit all week! It has such a fun graphic look that I can’t get enough of.

If you would like to sign up for your very own MPP subscription, don’t forget to list my name as your demonstrator!

Goodbye Google Reader

As many bloggers know Google Reader is officially going away July 1st.

I have been very reluctant to find another feed source and have procrastinated finding something until today. I did a quick search, and luckily there are some that haven’t procrastinated like I have.

Life Hacker did a post on the most popular alternative to Google Reader, and I have to say I’m impressed with the popular vote!

Meet Feedly.

Right now, as cited in the article, Feedly is using Google Reader’s services to synch, but eventually (and before the end date) it will have it’s own synching engine and hopefully we won’t even notice the demise of GR.

Here’s what I love about it already:

  • It imported my subscriptions from GR seamlessly
  • Organization is so easy!
    • I was able to remove some older blogs from my list when GR always seemed to lock up whenever I had to remove something
    • Adding a link/blog is just as basic and simple as GR
    • You can organize your categories of your blogs by dragging and dropping…so in love with this feature!
  • The sidebar has a “Today” button where you can view everything that is new in a dashboard set up
  • You’ll still have the same ability to scroll through each new feed and the viewing/preview is so much cleaner
  • Mark articles to save for later
  • I haven’t used this yet, but you can connect several social media sites and republish anything with your comments or text.
  • There’s an app! Pretty much all types from Kindle, Android and iOS models are covered.

There are probably way more things I am going to love about this, but for now I’m just excited I found something that was user friendly! There are definitely plenty of options out there, so if you haven’t found one yet search around. I’m sure you’ll find something you like before July!

Long Time No Blog!

It’s been almost a full month since I’ve been on the blog-o! CRAZY!

So much has happened in the past few weeks that I’ll catch up on soon, but the biggest project that has been keeping me occupied is now all done, whew! :)

It all started when I went to the Stampin’ Up! Regional Event on April 20th.

My demo friend LeeLa (hi LeeLa!) was telling me about this contest SU does for their demonstrators while we were are the Regional Event and told me I should look into it next year and try out for it. Well, that weekend I looked into it just to see what it was all about and made the decision to just go for it this year. I figured I could get my feet wet and see what it was all about!

You have to create five cards, three scrapbook pages and two 3D (anything that is not a scrapbook page or card) projects for your submission and follow some guidelines. I figured it wouldn’t take me that long (big understatement!) and that I should have plenty of time to get it to Stampin’ Up by the 5/22 deadline since it was about a month away at that time.

Well, I just today dropped off my projects at SU!, one day before the deadline! My family will totally understand this but it is a freaking good thing I could just take it to SU, I would not have stood a chance at mailing it, let alone that I was still putting my supply lists on the back of my projects in the Stampin’ Up! parking lot while sitting in my car today! :)

Overall, I had a blast creating! No matter the outcome of the contest I am really happy with how my projects turned out and I loved the challenge! I tried some new things that I hadn’t done before, and that I might not have attempted if it were not for this contest. I’m glad I pushed myself and put myself out there. It’s scary to be judged but I hear the projects will be on display at convention so that will be fun to look forward to. :)

My poor family may not have had clean clothes the entire time I worked on my projects, but they made due thankfully. :) A HUGE thank you to Jake, Gwynie and Brady for putting up with me while I worked on my projects. Thank you for understanding and allowing me to spend time in my studio working on everything for countless hours without interruption. I love you guys!

Gwynie posted this to her FB the other day….laundry stacked up and piles of misc stuff in the background…yep that is what is up!

After convention in July when the winners are announced I’ll be able to share my projects here, yay! Until then it’s a waiting game, but I have plenty to keep me busy until then….like updating the blog-o with what seems like a million happenings over the last month. :)
