Skipping Stones March Challenge!

It’s a new month and time for a new challenge!

Our challenges now go for a full month! So you have plenty of time to play along, and we can’t wait to see what you do with this new challenge. Check out the details at the Skipping Stones Design Blog!

This month we’re doing a color challenge, and using the photo below as inspiration for our colors. So fitting for this time of year as we jump into Spring with all it’s flowers and green!

All Your Wishes

To bring these colors together I used Dandelion Dreams! I heat embossed the dandelion image in clear embossing powder, and sponged Pistachio Pudding over top. The wishes sentiment was stamped in Soft Sky ink onto the same cardstock, and the Happy Birthday was stamped in Smoky Slate.

The white panel was adhered to a Smoky Slate card base, and the sentiment strip with a silver sparkle strip was added to the front with staples.

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Happy Friday!

What could be better than Friday and the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop?!

Well, I’ll tell you! Having the opportunity to win the Skipping Stones Design coffee set – aptly named Funny Coffee! I’m sharing a card used with those stamps today and hope you’ll be inspired!

Coffee Lovers Hop

There are also loads of other sponsors so be sure to visit all the blogs along the hop for a chance to win some amazing prizes!

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I love this coffee set but was having serious crafters block while making my card for this hop! Everything was too brown and blah so I took my inspiration from the Spring Coffee Lovers graphic shown above to pull green, brown and coral into my card for a fun Spring look! (Clearly the point of the graphic, ha).

I stamped the lines from an SSD set called Blocks and Borders Swirls that I just realized is now retired (sorry!) and then used a mask to sponge the circles onto the background.

The sentiment from Funny Coffee was stamped above the sequin trim and coral bakers twine. I stamped the coffee to-go cup, cut it out and stamped the coffee sleeve onto kraft cardstock. After the sleeve was cut and crimped I affixed it to the cup and added some sequins for a fun touch.

I hope you’re feeling inspired and in the mood for coffee and Spring! Stop by the Skipping Stones Design Blog to get linked up with the hop order and check out all the amazing blogs and sponsors!

SSD March Tip & Technique Hop!

Happy Saturday and welcome to the Skipping Stones Design March blog hop! We’re sharing tips and techniques featuring SSD stamp sets, so be sure to hop through all the blogs and check out all the inspiration!

Thank You Butterfly

Although I’m using a technique that’s not super new, it’s one that I have been loving on lately!

I first embossed the butterflies from Heartsong with white embossing powder onto watercolor cardstock. I then used my Zig watercolor markers to scribble on an acetate sheet, spritzed with water and then smooshed the panel onto the cardstock. I love seeing the colors blend together when you do this!

The sentiment from Everyday Blessings was stamped in Smoky Slate gray ink, between the butterflies.

My tip for you today is to case you own cards! Sometimes when I’m gathering inspiration, I look back at my old cards and like to reinvent them using a new technique or different stamps and colors.

My card today was inspired by this past card:

Monarch Thank You

My variations included the new watercolor technique, but if you look you can see the similarities in embossed butterflies, three butterflies in a row, and the gray color. I also added the sentiment to the card front, but used a different placement on my current card as it balanced better between the butterflies.

I hope you’re feeling inspired to try a new technique, or revisit some of your cards for a fresh and fun look!
