July Summer Challenge

It’s a new challenge on the Skipping Stones Design Blog and it’s all about SUMMER!

Today is a little bittersweet as it’s my last post with the Skipping Stones Design team. The past six months have been a blast as I’ve had a chance to play with some newly released sets, and participate in some awesome Blog Hops and challenges with the team but I hope you’ll still visit the SSD blog for more inspiration, challenge and fun as I know the other DT members have plenty to share!

My card for today uses one of the newly released sets I'd Pick You. These images are perfect for water coloring so you know I had to pull out my Zig Clean Color Markers! Summer makes me think of blue skies, flowers and bright colors so I incorporated all those elements into my card for the challenge.

I'd Pick You

I started off by stamping the large flower cluster in Versamark ink on the bottom corner of a sheet of water color paper. The image was heat embossed with black embossing powder, and then colored in with my Zig markers and a water brush. I also colored a bit of a background to mimic a blue sky, and stamped the sentiment in Momento black.

The colored image panel was adhered to a Tempting Turquoise card base and raised with dimensionals.

Make sure you visit the SSD Blog to see what the rest of the team came up with, and participate in the challenge!

Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop!

After taking a break last month during Blogs 4 Boobies, the team is back showcasing all new sets and we have two new DT members!

Make sure to visit the Skipping Stones Design Blog to see the new sets and which team members are highlighting the all new stamp sets.

For the hop, I’m working with Imagine, a beautifully detailed and doodled stamp set.

Imagine

I used the two bird images to create a background and colored the birds in with Zig watercolor markers. I started by stamping the birds in Versamark into watercolor cardstock, heat embossed with black embossing powder, and then colored each bird in.

To create some consistency I colored the bodies a light blue to let the detailed doodles shine through with the bold coloring.

After the main image panel was dry I mounted it to a Blackberry Bliss card base. The three sentiments are also from Imagine, and I lined them up in my MISTI and heat embossed them in gold on vellum. The sentiment panel was centered on the card, and a few mini dot accents were added to the card front.

Are you ready to check out what the other DT members created?! There is plenty more inspiration, so stop by the blog and hop away!
