Traditions–Scrapbook Layouts

We’ll be setting up the tree today and starting our Christmas traditions soon, which is exactly what these layouts are about today.

Traditions BradyTraditions Gwynie

The story: We have our traditions of decorating the tree, the kids getting new ornaments, getting jammies on Christmas Eve and making cookies and milk for Santa and I wanted to capture all of those things on one layout.

The layouts: Again like I did with some other layouts, I used a Crate Paper line and simply added in the thickers letters for the title, and a plain colored cardstock base. The scallops were already precut-preprinted on the decorative paper.

Tip to Note: As I try to do when I do combo/double layouts for the kids I always try to “boy-i-fy” and “girl-i-fy” their layouts. Gwynie’s was made more girly by the purple and glittery title, and Brady’s was made more boyish with the green colors and minimal cutesy embellies.

X*mas Jammies – A Scrapbook Layout

Just one quick layout to share today. I scrapped these photos for Brady’s book awhile back but for whatever reason didn’t do Gwynie’s, even though I usually do matching pages for their books. Hmmm….anyway.

X-Mas Jammies

The story: Each year the kids are guaranteed to get new pajama’s on Christmas Eve and take a pic in front of the tree!

The layout: I started with a green cardstock base and layered that over with the patterned paper. I think cut down some navy cardstock, and after adhering all the layers down I randomly added in the snowflake thickers and then the title. I love the funky and modern feel to the layout!

Tip to Note: I absolutely had to use this green color title but I had run out of A’s, E’s and M’s…so I used the @ for the A, upside down W’s for the M and a backwards 3 for the E. I actually really LOVE how this turned out making a funky title!

Christmas & December – Scrapbook Layouts

I have quite a few more Christmas layouts still to share so I should have a few days worth of blog material. ;)

Christmas - GwynieDecember - Brady

The story: Decorating the tree has always been something the kids really enjoyed doing, while Jake and I take a back seat and let them hang things wherever.

The layouts: These layouts use the same photo yes, but one is for Gwynie and one is for Brady. I used a Crate Paper line from last year and adorned the page with lots of  little embellishments to add dimension to the page.

Tip to Note: The base paper was already printed with the white and orange and the tree. Using a base like this helps highlight a photo and theme.

I’m planning on setting up the tree this weekend…how fast time flies!

Have a Holly Jolly–Scrapbook Layouts

There’s a joke in my family about this saying…”Have a holly jolly Christmas,” and still to this day I can’t sing that line without a huge grin spreading across my face. :) Ahhh family jokes, they are the best!

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas - Gwynie

Have a Holly Jolly - Brady

The story: I had a few (ahem) photos from December 2006 that I still hadn’t scrapped and decided to get them all on one page. So since Christmas is a huge event I got 8 pics for each kid on one page…yay!

The layouts: Both pages use an older Cosmo Cricket line, but I love that I was able to create two totally different looks with the different papers in the collection. Love how they work with the colors in the photos.

Tip to Note: Cropping your photos down to smaller squares really helps focus in on the subject and eliminate background pieces.

We’re #1, we’re #1, we’re #1!!

Brady’s team won, and they are STATE CHAMPIONS!! Woot, woot!!

This was an awesome game and I was so proud of my boys! Jake has really enjoyed coaching and to quote him he said, “Winning today meant more to me than the two state football championships I won in high school.” Jake’s Dad texted him Monday and asked if it had sunk in, haha. I think we’re all still so happy and excited from this!

So just to recap so I can remember all this when I scrapbook it later on. :) FYI – This will be a loonggg post!

Two of the moms went around and decorated everyone’s front door. I knew it was coming but Brady had no idea and was so excited!

Why yes it is snowing as I snapped these pics Friday afternoon!

The two of Brady were taken after the game Saturday, but I wanted to include all of these together.

I decorated his bedroom door after he went to bed so when he opened his door balloons would fall on him and he’d have to run through the streamers. He did it too fast in the morning for me to grab a pic, but it was priceless watching him!

We dyed Brady’s mohawk black and blue! We did blue during wrestling season but changed it up this time around. It looked really good once it was done!

It also snowed like crazy on Friday… We knew we’d be playing in the snow on Saturday and it would be freezing…yikes. Looking off my back deck.

Gwynie had her bestie Kerah stay the night and they made cookies and cards for Brady. This was the card Gwynie made for Brady and the inside message. Too cute! :)

Shared on Instagram…Brady was pumped before the game!

Ok so the game…it was crazy! Within the first 5 minutes of the game the Kearns coach was kicked out of the game!! Apparently he was swearing on the field and at his team. The refs gave him a warning and then the second time completely kicked him off the field. Go refs! Maybe the one and only time I will say that. ;)

It was also super wet, muddy and snowy! They had the field pretty well cleared, but it was super muddy and during the 4th quarter it started snowing again…what a day!

Look at all that snow! Luckily the field was pretty clear though, just muddy!

Hubba hubba! I couldn’t resist taking and sharing! :)

Ok so the game went like this..We scored and then had the touchdown called back for a penalty on the play. We score again and it counts. We score a touchdown and it gets called back, we score again and it counts. Same as last game against Kearns!! Crazy!

Ummmm ok sooooo, I will be honest the game was blur for me! I took almost 1000 pictures so I was crazily snapping pics all game! My throat was so raw and sore after the game from all the yelling we did and cheering the boys on.

In the end the team did great and won 25-7! They all did so well and we were (and are!) so proud of them! The boys all got little sunglasses after the game and danced to “Gagnnam Style” and were soooo happy with their win!

Our league president just told the boys they got to ride the fire truck through town from their win!

Look at their muddy faces, haha! :)

So the story behind these photos…after I took the photo of the two of them together Jake bent down to tell Brady how proud he was of him. The were both tearing up and even though I couldn’t hear them, I was tearing up too! Can you see Brady’s little smile in the pic above?

My tough little man! Trying hard not to cry after his awesome talk with Dad.

Dirty, muddy face, with snot running down his nose…I still LOVE these pics!

So after the game they got their promised fire truck ride through Stansbury! The parents all followed along and we all honked our horns through town! It was so fun and such a cool experience!

With all the coaches after the ride

I love you two! Thank you for such a wonderful season!

I have been so happy and proud to cheer on the sidelines for you both and have loved capturing every moment on film. I look forward to many years of “foosball” and watching you bond even more! Love, Mom

Gingerbread House – A Scrapbook Layout

I’m finally posting the last of the layouts I worked on a couple weekends ago and since it feels like Christmas is right around the corner, these are the perfect layouts to share right now!

Ginger Bread House Gwynie 1

Ginger Bread House Gwynie 2

The story: Just another Christmas tradition that we like to do in our house…gingerbread houses! It’s always fun to watch the kids put it together, and this year they decided to fling the candies at the house to see where they would stick in the frosting. It was hilarious!

The layout: I had actually started these layouts ages ago (and then finally finished them) so can’t remember the manufacturer of the paper, but the stickers and embellies are from Doodlebug Designs. They worked perfect with the pictures I had of the kids building their gingerbread house one Christmas. I love these colors!

Tip to Note: To add more dimension to the layout I could have easily have lifted the stickers off the page with pop dots. I decided to leave them flat in this case, but that’s just one more way to add a fun and easy technique to your layouts.

The layouts above are for Gwynie’s book, and the two below are for Brady. The difference is his has green ribbon and more green cardstock where hers is all decked out in pinks.

I let the kids pick out their Christmas ornaments for this year (another tradition) instead of surprising them, but it was fun giving them the chance to select their ornament. Also, that takes one more thing off my list for December! I’m really hoping I can get a lot of fun Christmas stuff type planning/prep done this month so I can enjoy December. ;)
