May Technique Blog Hop!

Every month when our Tip and Technique hop rolls around, I am wondering how a month has already raced by! Please tell me I’m not alone! ;) I’m super excited to share a technique with you today, along with some very exciting info!

Next month in June the Skipping Stones Design team and many guests will be doing a special “Blogs 4 Boobies” blog hop where 100% of the proceeds of auctioned cards along with 10% of stamp sales in May and June will be donated to the Susan G Komen foundation. It is a very near and dear goal to Heather, the SSD owner, to raise $2,000 to be donated to the Susan G Komen foundation.

Watch for more details on “B4B” soon! Heather is currently running a special (info below) so you can participate right away.

To start things off today and gear up for B4B, I pulled out Cancer Schmancer. Whether encouraging a friend through a cancer diagnosis or other difficult chapters in life, this set features beautiful and simple images and sentiments.

CancerSchmancer Close Up

For the technique portion of my cards, I colored the stamps with my Zig watercolor markers, spritzed the colored images with water, and then stamped directly onto watercolor paper. You could also do a variation where you color, stamp and then blend with an aqua brush, but I found for these images I didn’t have as much control and they bled too much, but for larger images it would work great.

Hope Happens

The sentiments were lined up with my MISTI and stamped, and then once dry mounted to a Basic Gray card base.

Miracles

For the “Miracles” and “You” card, I stamped the sentiments in Smoky Slate, and then stamped the cursive sentiments with SU! water-based ink. I then took my aqua brush and gently added water to the stamped sentiment to add to the watercolor feel.

Believe in You

I hope this leaves you feeling inspired and ready to make some cards this weekend!

Here is the info the the B4B sale!

I love the soft colors you created with your stamps! Thanks for the technique tip! I am going to have to try it! How do you like your Misti? Is it really worth getting? I am still on the fence about that!
