Dressing for Success in 2015

I didn’t set resolutions this year, but I did give my self some goals and projects I wanted to tackle in 2015. Some personal, some professional and some “just because” goals.

One thing I knew I wanted to focus on this year was dressing up a little more and well, dressing well. I don’t think I always dress poorly, but after losing some weight and winning our work fitness competition last year, I’m at the point that I need to rebuild my wardrobe. Seriously.

Loose and baggy clothes are awesome when you’ve lost weight (!!) but they don’t quite work when you’re trying to feel more confident about yourself since you still feel sloppy in those old baggy clothes. Right?! To be honest, I’ve gained a little bit back since June between Vegas, Hawaii and spending two weeks in Florida over Christmas (can you blame me?!), but I’m still down over 5% body fat from this time last year and am getting back into the groove of working out and lifting, and eating right once again now that the holidays are over.

I promise I’m making a point with that lengthy intro. ;) Queue the style challenge from Audrey at Putting Me Together. I’ve followed her blog for quite some time, but always thought, “When I lose weight I’ll dress better” or “I can’t wear stuff like that, my thighs/stomach/arms are way too big”  and so on and so forth. Well, I’m still working on being more fit and healthy, but damned if I’m going to let one more day go by where I don’t feel cute and happy in my own skin and actually excited to get dressed in the morning.

The challenge this week is to wear a dress. Now, before I would have totally had reservations, but I was coming around to the idea recently of wearing tights and boots with my dresses and expanding my wardrobe in our chilly Utah winter months.

I bought this dress and belt while we were in Florida (on clearance, yessss!) and was excited to see the challenge knowing this would be a great time to pull them out. Thanks to some cute friends at work (Shawn, Davey and Krystal) for the sweet compliments when I wore this yesterday! I don’t know if you’ll ever read this, but I super appreciated the love!

And yes I totally did the selfie in the mirror for these. ;)
