Sunshine and Butterflies

It’s the last day of projects featuring the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP (found in the Spring Catalog)!

I’ve already shown my hostess this card so it’s not a surprise, but this is the card we’ll be making at my workshop next month (thanks for hosting Diane!) and was inspired by her love of embossing.

Butterfly Metal

I’ll be demonstrating the faux mental embossing technique and wanted to incorporate some of my favorite things on this card which include the Lacy and Lovely stamp set, the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP and the butterfly punch. I’ve also been loving on gray lately for some reason, can’t wait for the new gray to come out next month!! ;)

This card came together pretty quickly. The medallion from Lacy and Lovely was stamped with VersaMark ink for a small impression on the gray base. Layers of dsp follow, along with a strip of sticky adhesive tape to which glitter has been applied. Last, the curly label punch, a strip of Old Olive taffeta and a faux metal butterfly finish off the card.

That wraps up my week of sharing cards and projects created with the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP! What have you created with DSP recently?

Whirly Twirly Birthday

I’m sharing projects showcasing the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP this week, but really it could also be a prelude to the pinwheel die and the Wishes Your Way stamp set because I have another card with these elements on it today!

Whirly Twirly Birthday

It’s a really straight forward card, but still one that I love for a birthday that could go for either a kid or an adult. I mean really, what adult wouldn’t want to get a card with a pinwheel on it?! :)

The background was created by embossing the cloud folder in the Big Shot, but before embossing the folder was inked up with Marina Mist ink. Strips of dsp were notched at the ends and layered over the cloud base. Finally the sentiment strip and the pinwheel (attached to a baking sucker stick) were added to the card.

I have one more project to share tomorrow featuring a piece of dsp that hasn’t been shared yet!

Candles and wishes your way

Here’s another way to use your DSP, and my current favie Sunshine and Sprinkles.

Take strips of your DSP and roll tightly, attach whisper white bakers twine in the center with a glue dot and ta-da you’ve got a candle!

Wishes Your Way

Super simple and easy, but perfect for a little boy birthday when you need a last minute card! A quick sentiment makes it even better!

You could take this same layout and change up the colors and patterned paper to mirror any recipient, super easy!

Hoppy Spring!

Still loving on the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP that can be found in the Spring Catalog! Today I’m showcasing the gift bag I made for my hostess in March.

This bag is called a Box in a Bag, and the tutorial can be found on the link.

Bag in a box

This pretty paper made it so easy to come up with a fabulous product with minimal effort. All I did was set up the bag, punch and stamp the tag, and then punch and tie the top together!

I used Melon Mambo for the base and the bag top, along with Whisper White for the tag. A bit of Old Olive taffeta ribbon and Whisper White bakers twine held it all together. The frog and sentiment were stamped with the A Little Bit of Spring stamp set, also found in the Spring Catalog. The curly label, tag and scallop border punch made it super easy to prepare all the elements!

Box Close Up

Here’s a close-up of this cutie frog! He is just so happy and springy and HOPPY!

If you haven’t checked out this paper yet, you really need to! :)

Blowing Wishes Your Way

This week I’m sharing cards and projects that spotlight the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP that can be found in the Spring Catalog.

Today I am showing the card we made at one of my workshops in March (thanks for hosting Heidi!) and has a few different pieces of the super cute DSP on it. I fell in love with the pinwheel die and at only $4.95 it was a steal, so I worked with the die and the dsp to create a fun spinner card.

If you’re not familiar with this technique you can view it here, but make it easier on your self and use the Word Window punch for the slit.

Blowing Wishes 4

The magic and wow of this card is the pennies help the spinner roll across the slit created by the punch. You can see it in action below!

Blowing Wishes 1Blowing Wishes 2Blowing Wishes 3

I let the ladies choose how they would color in the embossed cloud background. They could either sponge it on (right) or ink up the embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot (left) to create blue in the sky with the embossed clouds.

Blowing Wishes Your Way Duo

A message is “hidden” in the slit and plays fun with the pinwheel. The Wishes Your Way stamp set (also in the Spring Catalog) pairs perfectly and has great sentiments for this pinwheel and birthday greetings.

The pinwheel and the strip that was punched with the scallop border punch came from the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP shown below. I love that it’s double sided so you can do unique things like having two sides on the pinwheel!

The Secret of Life

Scrapbook Sunday

It’s another edition of Scrapbook Sunday! Today, and continuing through this week, I’m spotlighting the cutest paper around, the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP that can be found in the Spring Catalog.

I love the bright colors and how happy it looks! :)

Secret of Life

Playing on the theme of sunshine, I created this layout with a starburst in mind and cut and layered the dsp into this shape. A few butterflies, a cut out doily, and rhinestones accent the page, along with a stamp from the From My Heart stamp set.

I am blanking on how old Great Grandma Lee is so I’ll have to go back in and add what year it was next to the word birthday on the layout. :)

I have been saving any scraps I have so that I can go back and punch them out with my smaller punches at any time. It’s a great way to use up those bitty scraps and still have a good use for them! Check out this fun paper below!126922L

Your Kindness

Today I am sharing one of my favorite cards I created with the Lacy and Lovely set!

Your Kindness

The card started out with a gray base that was embossed with my Big Shot. Next I layered a die cut (Adorning Accents Edgelits die) that had been out of Elegant Eggplant, and then another layer of Pale Plum topped that. Stamped on the Pale Plum layer are the two smaller stamps from the set, stamped in Elegant Eggplant and Pale Plum. Then on the large medallion I brushed Whisper White ink into the centers. Finally, on that panel I added some small rhinestones.

I used the same technique like yesterday of faux metal for the sentiment. The sentiment is from From My Heart and was punched out with the decorative label punch. Finally the modern label punch was used to accent each end. I just cut it in the middle so I could “stretch” it and just added them to the ends.

A couple rhinestones on the end of the sentiment, and a faux metal butterfly finish of the card!

Well that wraps up my cards used with Lacy and Lovely! I find myself constantly reaching for this set and consider it a staple in my collection now. How about you, do you have this set and love it? If not, contact me today to order you very own set!

Lacy Thank You

I love simple cards and feel like this is the ultimate in simplicity, but is up there in sophistication!
Lacy Thank You
It started with a Crumb Cake card base and them I stamped around the edges with the images in versamark, and embossed in black embossing powder. The sentiment was stamped in basic black, and although you can’t see too much of a difference in the photo, I love the texture the embossed images create on the neutral background.
This is another card that I think has unlimited color possibilities between the embossing colors and the card base. I’m excited to try this again with some other colors to see what looks I can achieve!

Doily Love

Continuing with the love of my favorite set, Lacy and Lovely,  here’s a multi-layer card featuring this pretty set!
Doily Love
I started with a Basic Gray card base and layered on some patterned paper, followed by lots of stacks of doilies! The medallion in the center stamped in Tempting Turquoise is from the set, and the doilies were die cut from Melon Mambo using the Doilies die on my Big Shot. Two butterflies were punched out and a small rhinestone was layered on top.
I left the sentiment off of the card front so it could easily be translated to a birthday or even a thank you card. I love this layered look and think this card could be changed so many ways with the different color combos you could do!

Lacy and Lovely Thanks

One of my new favorite sets has to be Lacy and Lovely! I have a few cards to share with you this week featuring this pretty set!
I first noticed this set because of the gorgeous font on the sentiments and quickly grew to love the stamps and now can’t stop using them on everything!
Lacy Thank You
This was a really quick and easy one layer card with just stamps, ink, and one tiny embellishment but I love the simplicity! I made these for some of the girls I stamp with to say thanks for attending my first open house and ordering and I think they liked them. :)
I started with a Tempting Turquoise base and layered a Whisper White piece of cardstock on the left side of the card. I stamped with Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise and Perfect Plum, along with the sentiment in Basic Black. The rhinestone after the sentiment adds a little bit of bling and stays with the simplistic theme.
Here’s a peak at the set, it’s is gorgeous?!
