Christmas Scrapbook Pages

Here’s about half of the pages I worked on over the holidays. I finally have 2007 Christmas complete, yay! ;)

For whatever reason, scrapbooking Christmas pictures has always been a challenge for me. One because I take a good deal of pictures, but also because I feel apprehensive about getting the “perfect” pages since it’s such a big event. While not every page is “perfect” I love that they are done and my kids can enjoy looking back at our holiday memories.

Like several layouts I’ve done before, there is one for each kid to have in their scrapbooks. No details on these, but mostly the lines are from Crate Paper or Cosmo Cricket and lots of things I’ve had in my stash.

I have a few more pages left and that should catch me up on posting to the blog. I haven’t been scrapping the last couple weekends as we’ve been going full speed, but I’ve been organizing my studio/office a bit more which has been nice. Maybe once I feel more organized I’ll whip out some more pages. :)

Summer Scrapbook Pages

I have been slacking in sharing some of the layouts I’ve completed recently. With the colder weather it’s been easy to do some holiday pages, but I was also itching to make some pages that were summery. :)

I’ll post some of the Christmas pages later, but for now with all this cold weather I thought some bright pages would be in order. Each layout uses papers from the Amy Tangerine collection.

These two below are the same but a little different for each of the kid's’ scrapbooks.

Surprisingly I still have 14 Christmas layouts to post! Finally catching up on some older holiday photos was great during the holidays, now to just post them here. :)

Brady is 10!!

My BABY is 10!!

Brady is in the double digits and growing up so very fast. His party is this weekend but we did a little cake and presents for him tonight to celebrate. I was not feeling well all day so we didn’t take him out to dinner (we let them pick what they want as a tradition) but we’ll save that for later this week. :)

He’s such a great kid, full of energy and determination. He works hard at school and in sports and is very caring of others.

Brady, you make us so happy and our family was complete when you were born!

Here’s a glimpse at the awesome little man you are growing into! :)

Gwynie was (and still is) such an amazing big sister. She was thrilled to have this little baby in the house!

You always have a smile on your face and are such a happy and mellow guy. You don’t get mad easily, I love that you are so balanced and carefree and easy going!

Although you can be happy go lucky, you are still such a serious little guy. You think hard and love to learn.

Your spunky personality really shows through here. I love how animated you can be when you’re excited about something!

Trains, trucks, monster cars, hot wheels….anything with wheels you love! You were obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine, and then Nascar and then Monster Jam. But it always all about the cars and the cool tricks you could do with them.

You started school this year (2008) and I cried. You are already getting so big and I couldn’t believe how fast you were growing up.

And this was the year you started wrestling…my how time flies. You were just shy of 45 pounds when you started in Kindergarten. Now you’re just over 65 pounds in 4th grade. One day you will grow…there’s proof that you’ve been growing all along. :)

This was probably one of your proudest moments - catching a shark in the Gulf of Mexico on Poppa’s boat!

August 2010

I love that you two have a shared love and passion for wrestling. It’s in your blood. ;) Watching you two compete together at the Summer Games is always so much fun!

Now, you’re in 4th grade and 10…wow. Time has flown by but we sure have loved every minute of it. I am so proud of the man you are becoming and I look forward to the memories we will create over the next 10 years! :)

And finally, a few birthday shots from this evening.

Winter Decor

Winter has finally come to Utah! I’d rather do without the temps in the single digits, and even more so the negative temps, but I love how the snow blankets everything and looks so pretty.

I took our tree and Christmas decorations down at the end of December and set up my console table with some wintery décor so I can enjoy the look without the cold! :)

I kept a fairly neutral color palate with silver and white, and just a touch of green and garland brown from the pinecones. The best part is that the majority of these things came from after clearance Christmas sales!

In one corner of the table I have my tall trees and a little votive filled with white glitter ornaments that were turned upside down so you just see the tops.

This giant snowflake was supposed to be an ornament, but I used it as a little tray to hold pinecones and a fun disco like orb.

I used one of my favorite apothecary jars to add Epsom salt in the bottom to mimic snow, and then some mini pine trees. It’s like a mini forest! :)

The vase with the fun sprigs is a mix of pieces and some garland to keep everything together.

I am really loving the calming whites and like the minimal look after such a decked out and colorful Christmas!

I did a quick and easy floral piece for the dining room table. I brought back my everyday aqua table runner and the same black tray I rotate décor our with.

I used pinecones, the jingle bells that had been in the front room, and some silver eucalyptus pieces. Jake came home and asked what smelled because he thought it smelled like a craft store. He said it smelled like JoAnn’s and I realized it was from the eucalyptus. :)

A few doilies were placed in the bottom of the tray, and I added some little votives that were also picked up after Christmas.

I can’t believe we’re already halfway through January! I like decorating for winter, but am really looking forward to the heat! :)

2013 Resolutions

I love the idea of resolutions, but this year I’m doing it differently.

This year is not about concrete goals or lists.

This year is not about hitting a specific deadline.

This year is about enjoyment but it’s so much more than just that.

This year is about appreciating every moment, experience and adventure life throws my way.

So with that in mind, here are my RESOLUTIONS for 2013.

Rest and relax, don’t rush. Create and enjoy down time when we can and enjoy the ride.

Eat well and exercise more. This is not about a number, but feeling and being healthy and happy.

Speak my mind and opinions and stand up for what I believe in, but always remember to respect others.

Own my mistakes and short-comings. Learn from them but embrace who I am.

Love unconditionally. With compassion, forgiveness and kindness.

Unwind and loosen up after long days. Mentally and physically.

Take pictures. Lots. And learn to love even the flawed ones.

Invest in me. Take time to learn new things, try something I haven’t done before and improve myself.

Obsess less. Don’t worry as much, take deep breaths and try not to let my emotions get the best of me.

No regrets. Now is the time. Time for change or time for new things, but take the time to do it now and have no regrets.

Savor the moments I have with my kids, enjoy the firsts and the lasts.

Cheers to 2013!
